Well, that’s it. Another Paws
Across America journey is in the history books. After
logging 10,000 miles in 2002 and 2003 it’s hard
to imagine that this year’s “trip” might
be the most memorable… and we NEVER LEFT HOME!
There are too many people to thank for all the help
in getting some of the incredible pictures taken
over the past two weeks. You can see all of the pictures
on my web site, and look for the official Paws Across
America III calendar for more great shots by the
holidays! Thanks so much to the Mandalay Resorts,
including the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur and
Circus Circus. Thanks also to our friends at the Tropicana and the Follies Bergere. To the great people
over at Harrah’s and the Rio. And, to the wonderful
folks who gave me my own marquee at Caesars. Also,
to the dedicated, brave crew of the U.S. Air Force
Thunderbirds. And finally, to Mayor Oscar Goodman
and his staff for their kindness and generosity.
“Home” could be the theme of Paws Across
America III. On July 2nd of this year, Dad kept his
8 year promise to me and bought me my own house with
a pool! You see, for the first 2 ½ years of
my life, I was at the beach EVERY DAY! So, when we
came to Vegas in July of 1996, Dad made a vow that
I would have my own pool to swim in before I got
too old!!! And, almost eight years to the day after
making that vow, Dad kept his promise! “Thanks,
Dad!”
Another reason we decided to stay “local?” As
you may many of you know, Dad wanted to see our great
land following the tragic events of 9/11/01. Feeling
an overwhelming sense of patriotism following that
day (and all of his life) Dad wanted to show me some
of the many great areas of this land we love so much.
Unfortunately, many of those sentiments in the days,
months and years since that fateful day have been
replaced by the negativity of the 2004 campaign season.
So, Dad turned his thoughts to those wonderful gifts
we have been given right here in our home town. Thanks
to you, Channel 3 and all of our friends here in
Las Vegas, Dad and I have carved out a wonderful
life here in our “home town,” Las Vegas!
The greatest city, in the greatest state, in the
greatest country on earth. God Bless all of you for
allowing us to be part of YOUR lives. And finally,
God Bless America.
Fondly,
Jordan Fredericks
