2004 - Day Seven:
The Wild Blue!

  • Depart: News 3 at 9:04AM, Clearing skies / Light wind / 52.1 degrees
  • Arrive: Nellis Air Force Base 9:23AM (Took about 15 minutes to get security clearance)
  • Depart: Thunderbirds Hangar 10:16AM Clear skies Light wind 53.4 degrees

Wow! Another incredible morning. Dad and I got to hang out with some of the members of the Thunderbirds demonstration team AND take some really cool pictures of one of their F-16’s.! If you look closely just under the cockpit canopy you might make out the words “Opposing Solo.”

This is one of two “solo” jets used during the demonstrations. BTW - - Don’t miss the upcoming “Aviation Nation” out at Nellis! This year it’s a tribute to WWI and WWII, so you know there will be some really cool vintage planes out there!

You might remember that Dad had a chance to go up with the Thunderbirds a few years ago! He had a great time and actually pulled 9.3 g’s!!! We’ve got the pictures/certificate and video at home!!

Thanks to Sgt. Gabe, Ms. Walker and ALL of the wonderful folks at Nellis who made our morning so special! God Bless America.

(Tuesday morning, it’s a meeting with the Mayor!!!)

Fondly,
Jordan Fredericks
